The Durga Kavach is a kind of spiritual shield that provides mental and physical protection. Following the Kavach is the Argala Stotra, where sages and saints have praised Maa Durga, so that she can kill Demon Mahishasura. Just before the Durga Saptashati begins, the Keelak Stotra praises Lord Shiva. It is believed that Shiva and Shakti are incomplete without each other, so praising Lord Shiva is necessary to fully please Maa Durga and obtain desired results. Performing this sacred ritual at a Shaktipeeth is considered highly effective. According to ancient legends, at the Kalighat Shaktipeeth, a part of Maa Sati's right toe fell when Lord Shiva was performing the Tandava dance with her body. This makes Kalighat one of the 51 sacred Shaktipeeths. Notably, the puja will be performed on a Tuesday, a day dedicated to Lord Hanuman in Hinduism.
