In Sanatan Dharma, Lord Dhanvantari, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is revered as the deity of health and wellness. It is believed that performing the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra Jaap along with the Arogya Murti Dhanvantari Shakti Homa brings blessings of good health, protection, and safety from untoward incidents. According to religious scriptures, after emerging from the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), Lord Dhanvantari requested a place from Lord Vishnu. However, Vishnu informed him that he had arrived slightly late but granted him a divine boon—that he would be born in the second Dwapar Yuga in a royal lineage and be worshiped across the three realms. As per this boon, in the second Dwapar Yuga, Lord Dhanvantari incarnated in Kashi as the son of King Kash of the royal family. He later studied Ayurveda under Sage Bharadwaj, classifying it into eight branches and gaining comprehensive knowledge of medical treatments. This special puja is conducted to invoke blessings of healing, protection, and the ability to ward off untimely misfortunes.
