This maiden, Devi Ekadashi, fought and killed the demon Mura. When Lord Vishnu woke up, he was astonished and granted her a boon, saying that anyone who worships her will have their sins destroyed and attain salvation. Apart from the legend, the day of Utpanna Ekadashi involves worshipping Lord Vishnu through the recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranama, which includes 1,000 names of the Lord. As Tulsi is very dear to Lord Vishnu, using it in the puja is considered highly auspicious. On this sacred day, the observance of the Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat Katha, along with Vishnu Sahasranama and 1100 Tulsi Archana, is believed to bless devotees with protection from negativity and relief from karmic sins.
