Margashirsha Shashthi Nakshtra of Shani Special Santaan Sukh Putrada Maa Shashthi Pujan and Shani Til Tel Abhishek for Blessing of Protection and Well-being of Children

In Sanatan Dharma, Goddess Shashthi Devi is revered as the goddess of children. She is believed to have originated from the sixth element of primordial nature, which is why she is called Shashthi Devi. It is believed that she blesses those desiring children, grants long life to infants, and naturally protects them. The Shashthi Tithi (sixth day) is considered the most auspicious for worshipping Goddess Shashthi. It is believed that worship on this day brings blessings for the safety and well-being of children. Worship of Shani Dev is also considered auspicious alongside Goddess Shashthi, as the worship of Goddess Shashthi is done for blessings of progeny, while the worship of Shani Dev helps remove obstacles such as difficulties and delays. Together, worshipping both deities helps resolve barriers to childbearing and provides protection during pregnancy. It is believed that worshipping Shani Dev and Goddess Shashthi grants blessings for the welfare and safety of children.

With her yogic power, Goddess Shashthi Devi is always present near children in the form of an elderly mother, watching over them indirectly. She not only protects them but also nurtures them. To please her, people perform the “Santaan Sukh Putrada Maa Shashthi Pujan,” a ritual conducted for the welfare and protection of children. For appeasing Lord Shani (Shanidev), the Til-Tel Abhishek is considered especially beneficial. It is believed that offering Til-Tel Abhishek to Lord Shani relieves hardships and fulfils desires. Performing Til-Tel Abhishek during the Pushya Nakshatra is considered even more auspicious, as Shani rules this Nakshatra. This time, the auspicious conjunction of Shashthi Tithi and Pushya Nakshatra is occurring. Therefore, on this auspicious day, the Santaan Sukh Putrada Maa Shashthi Pujan and Shani Til-Tel Abhishek will be conducted at the Sri Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir to receive the divine blessings of Goddess Shashthi and Lord Shani, ensuring the protection and well-being of children.

Etteluthuperumal Temple, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu
The Etteluthuperumal Temple, located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, is a revered shrine imbued with deep spiritual significance. Established 120 years ago by the esteemed sage Mayandi Siddhar, the temple is a testament to enduring tradition and devotion. Sage Mayandi Siddhar constructed the temple following a profound meditation and vision of Lord Ram. The temple has witnessed numerous miracles, including the main statue of Lord Perumal, which was sculpted by an ordinary person with no formal knowledge of sculpture. The temple houses several sacred idols, including the notable Sphatika Lingam made of pure clear quartz.

According to the Shastras, worshipping the Sphatika Lingam is believed to imbue devotees with confidence, self-worth, and power, while alleviating worries and negative influences. This Sphatika Lingam is particularly significant as it is one of the largest in India, after the one in Rishikesh. The temple is also renowned for its association with Lord Ram, as it is believed to be the site where Lord Ram granted moksha to Jatayu and performed his father’s last rites. Devotees visit the Etteluthuperumal Temple to seek blessings from Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Shiva, and Lord Hanuman. Performing puja here is believed to fulfil devotees' wishes and bless them with success in all endeavours.
