According to the Matsya Purana, a fierce battle took place between Lord Shiva and the demon Andhakasura. During the battle, a drop of Lord Shiva's sweat fell to the ground, giving birth to Mars. Mars absorbed all the blood from the demon’s body, turning red. After the battle, the gods established a Shiva Lingam at that very place and named it Mangalnath Mahadev. This temple, located in Ujjain, is regarded as the birthplace of Mars. It is believed that performing Manglik Dosha Nivaran Mahapuja, Bhaat Puja and Shri Mangalnath Mahabhishek at this temple grants blessings to find a suitable life partner and resolves issues related to Manglik Dosha.
