Phalguna Amavasya Shakti-Samriddhi 5 Mahavidya Anushthan Maa Kali, Maa Tara, Maa Shodashi, Maa Bhuvaneshwari and Maa Bagalamukhi Shakti Samriddhi Maha Yagya for Protection from Enemies and Achieving Abundance

On the sacred night of Amavasya, attain divine grace and immense prosperity through the sadhana of the Mahavidyas! 🔱✨🙏

According to the Vedic Panchang, the Amavasya (new moon) tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna is known as Phalguna Amavasya, which holds immense significance in Sanatan Dharma. It is believed that on this day, negative energies reach their peak, which is why the fierce forms of deities are especially worshipped. As per the descriptions in the Puranas, the ten Mahavidyas are considered the fierce manifestations of Goddess Durga, and worshipping them on Amavasya is believed to fulfill all desires. According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, the origin of the Mahavidyas is linked to a dispute between Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati. When Lord Shiva forbade Goddess Sati from attending her father’s yagya, she manifested her ten divine forms, surrounding Shiva from all four directions, preventing him from stopping her. These ten forms later became renowned as the ten Mahavidyas. In Vedic traditions, the sadhana (spiritual practice) of these ten Mahavidyas holds immense significance, with five of them being particularly revered. These five Mahavidyas are as follows:

Maa Kali: Maa Kali is regarded as the goddess of time, creation, and destruction. As the Shakti (power) of Lord Shiva, she destroys negativity and paves the way for new beginnings in life. Goddess Durga assumed her form specifically for the annihilation of demons.

Maa Tara: Maa Tara is considered a principal goddess in Tantra Shastra. It is believed that Maharshi Vashishtha was the first to worship her. She symbolizes wisdom, compassion, and spiritual growth and helps devotees overcome difficult times.

Maa Shodashi (Tripura Sundari): Also known as Lalita, Rajarajeshwari, and Tripura Sundari, Maa Shodashi is associated with beauty, balance, and completeness. The name "Shodashi" comes from the presence of 16 divine attributes within her. She brings prosperity and fulfillment to the lives of her devotees.

Maa Bhuvaneshwari: Maa Bhuvaneshwari is considered the goddess who governs the entire cosmos, and her divine energy drives the entire creation. She is the goddess of creation, nourishment, and abundance, blessing devotees with success and growth.

Maa Bagalamukhi: Maa Bagalamukhi is revered as the goddess of victory, control, and peace. She has the power to subdue enemies and remove obstacles in life. Through her divine grace, devotees attain triumph over adversities and experience protection and stability.

On this Phalguna Amavasya, a grand anushthan (sacred ritual) dedicated to these Mahavidyas will be organized at the Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple in Kolkata. You, too, can participate in this Maha Yagya through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of the Mahavidyas.

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal
The Kali Ghat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

The current temple was constructed under the patronage of the Saborno Roychoudhury family & Babu Kaliproshad Dutto, with construction starting in 1798 and completing in 1809. The Kali Ghat Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance. For centuries, it has been a centre of attraction for devotees who come here to fulfil their wishes. Worship of Goddess Kali at Kali Ghat liberates devotees from fear, negativity, and malevolent energies, bringing peace, prosperity, and success in life. Additionally, the temple is a symbol of Bengal's cultural heritage and hosts grand celebrations during religious festivals, especially Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
