Bhai Dooj Madurai - Mathura Tirth Combo 11,000 Meenakshi Mool Mantra Jaap, Kavacham Path and Sudarshana Homa for Blessings of Removal of Fear and Guarding Against Negative Energies

In Hinduism, Bhai Dooj holds special significance as a festival that celebrates the eternal bond between siblings. The name is derived from two words, ‘Bhai,’ meaning brother, and ‘Dooj,’ referring to the second day after the new moon. It is celebrated two days after Diwali. This festival is marked by sisters praying for their brothers' well-being and prosperity, while brothers vow to protect and care for their sisters. According to scriptures, Maa Parvati did severe penance to marry Lord Shiva. As part of her devotion, she needed to create a Shivling and worship Mahadev. However, despite repeated attempts, she struggled to form the Shivling from the dry soil. Seeing her dedication, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of a Brahmin to help her. Approaching Maa Parvati, he offered his assistance in shaping the Shivling. Grateful for his support, Maa Parvati affectionately addressed Lord Vishnu as 'brother.' With his help, she was finally able to complete the Shivling and continue her penance. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, in his role as her spiritual brother, even convinced Mahadev to agree to their divine marriage. This story symbolises the strong bond between them. According to another ancient tale, Maa Parvati tied a sacred rakhi on Lord Vishnu’s wrist, signifying their spiritual sibling relationship. In return, Lord Vishnu promised to protect her from all challenges. Hence, it is believed that performing any rituals for Maa Parvati and Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day is considered highly auspicious.

According to ancient texts, just like Maa Parvati, Maa Meenakshi also performed severe penance to marry Lord Shiva, as Maa Meenakshi is an incarnation of Maa Parvati. Therefore, performing the 11,000 Meenakshi Mool Mantra Jaap and Kavacham Path on this day brings auspicious results. The 11,000 Meenakshi Mool Mantra Jaap and Kavacham Path are believed to invoke the blessings of Maa Meenakshi, offering protection, prosperity, and spiritual growth, while the Kavacham Path creates a protective shield against negative influences. Along with this puja performing Sudarshana Homa is also considered highly auspicious, because Sudarshana Homa is a powerful spiritual practice associated with Lord Vishnu, performed for protection, blessings, and overall well-being. It is a sacred fire ritual dedicated to Lord Sudarshana, the fierce and protective form of Lord Vishnu, symbolised by the Sudarshana Chakra, a divine disc with powerful energy. It is believed that Lord Shiva gifted the Sudarshana Chakra to Lord Vishnu during the auspicious Kartik Month. According to legends, Madurai is the place where Maa Meenakshi and Lord Shiva were married in the presence of all deities, making them auspicious for performing Meenakshi mantra jaap and path. Whereas, Sudarshana Homa will be organised at the Shri Dirgh Vishnu Temple. This temple is regarded as one of the most sacred places for the worship of Lord Vishnu. Hence, it is believed that performing these sacred rituals on Bhai Dooj at these sacred temple towns brings blessings for removal of fear and guarding against negative energies.

Shri Dirgh Vishnu Temple, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
Shri Dirgh Vishnu Mandir, located in Mathura, is said to date back to the era of Lord Krishna. According to mythological beliefs, anyone who bows their head with devotion here has all their sorrows personally taken away by Lord Hari. Worshipping at this temple is thought to be instrumental in realising our life goals and aspirations, while also enhancing our physical and mental well-being. References to the Dirgh Vishnu Mandir can also be found in the Varaha Purana, Narada Purana, and the Bhagavad Gita. According to the Varaha Purana, Lord Vishnu states that there is no place in the Earth, space, or the netherworld that is as dear to Him as Mathura. The establishment of this temple took place around 4,500 years ago. Its construction was undertaken to remember the six-armed form of Lord Krishna and to save the holy pilgrimage site of Yamuna. The temple showcases the divine form of Lord Krishna, which He revealed during the time of slaying Kansa.
