Akshaya Navami Sarv Suraksha Special Lakshmi Narayan Puja, Shiv Rudrabhishek and Amla Archana for Protection from Adversities and Ill Health

According to Hindu Calendar, the Navami Tithi (ninth day) of Kartik month holds special significance, as it marks the celebration of Akshaya Navami. The term “Akshaya” in Sanskrit means “eternal” or “that which never diminishes.” Akshaya Navami is considered an auspicious time for good deeds and charity. According to legend, Akshaya Navami is known as the start of Sat Yuga, the era of truth and purity. For this reason, it’s also referred to as Satya Yugadi. Akshaya Navami also known as Amla Navami. According to legend, when Goddess Lakshmi visited the earth, she wished to worship both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. However, she was uncertain how she could honour them simultaneously. Just then, she recalled the Amla fruit, which embodies the essence of both basil (representing Vishnu) and vine (symbolising Shiva), symbolising their combined qualities. Inspired by this, she chose to worship the Amla tree, known for its healing properties. From that moment on, the tradition of worshipping the Amla tree on Akshaya Navami was born.

In several regions, the Amla tree is especially honoured on this day. Known for its rich nutrients and health benefits, Amla represents vitality and wellness. In gratitude for its offerings, people worship the Amla tree. Hence it is believed that worshipping Maa Lakshmi, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day is considered highly beneficial. Therefore, on Akshaya Navami, Lakshmi Narayan Puja, Shiv Rudrabhishek and Amla Archana will be conducted at the Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli, South India. Lakshmi Narayan Puja is dedicated to Maa Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu, invoking their blessings for wealth, harmony, and protection from Adversities. Shiv Rudrabhishek involves offering sacred items like milk, honey, and flowers to Lord Shiva, symbolising purification and dedication. Whereas, Amla Archana is performed for health, longevity, and wellness. This practice of worshipping the Amla tree shares similarities with the worship of the Bilva tree in rituals associated with Lord Shiva. The Bilva leaf is deeply revered in Lord Shiva worship because it is believed to be dear to him and is symbolic of purity, dedication, and spirituality. Just as the Bilva is integral in invoking Shiva’s blessings, the Amla tree on Akshaya Navami serves as a channel for blessings from Maa Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, and Lord Vishnu. Therefore, participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings for protection from adversities and ill health.

Etteluthuperumal Temple, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu
The Etteluthuperumal Temple, located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, is a revered shrine imbued with deep spiritual significance. Established 120 years ago by the esteemed sage Mayandi Siddhar, the temple is a testament to enduring tradition and devotion. Sage Mayandi Siddhar constructed the temple following a profound meditation and vision of Lord Ram. The temple has witnessed numerous miracles, including the main statue of Lord Perumal, which was sculpted by an ordinary person with no formal knowledge of sculpture. The temple houses several sacred idols, including the notable Sphatika Lingam made of pure clear quartz.

According to the Shastras, worshipping the Sphatika Lingam is believed to imbue devotees with confidence, self-worth, and power, while alleviating worries and negative influences. This Sphatika Lingam is particularly significant as it is one of the largest in India, after the one in Rishikesh. The temple is also renowned for its association with Lord Ram, as it is believed to be the site where Lord Ram granted moksha to Jatayu and performed his father’s last rites. Devotees visit the Etteluthuperumal Temple to seek blessings from Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Shiva, and Lord Hanuman. Performing puja here is believed to fulfil devotees' wishes and bless them with success in all endeavours.
