The 108 Vada Mala Archanai is a grand offering where devotees prepare a garland of crispy urad dal fritters (vada) to present to the deity. According to legend, Lord Hanuman discovered a Salagrama stone shaped like Lord Vishnu while bathing in the Gandaki River in Nepal. Passing through Namakkal, he entrusted the stone to Goddess Lakshmi, who was meditating after Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashyap. When Hanuman failed to return in time, the stone was placed on the ground, grew into a mountain, and became immovable. Lord Narasimha appeared and declared the place as his abode, and today, Hanuman’s idol stands paying obeisance to Lord Narasimha Swamy, whose temple is located nearby. The hillock in Namakkal is also believed to be the one brought by Lord Hanuman from Nepal, adding to the temple’s spiritual and cultural significance.
