According to legend, during the Satya Yuga, a demon named Madan was granted invincibility by Lord Brahma. He wreaked havoc across the three worlds, prompting the gods to seek help from Lord Vishnu. Lord Shiva revealed that only Goddess Bagalamukhi could defeat Madan and Lord Vishnu performed intense penance on the banks of the Haridra Sarovar. Pleased by his devotion, the Goddess manifested and vanquished the demon. Praised by gods and sages, she was honored with the title Vijayshri—the granter of victory. Scriptures also describe a deep spiritual bond between Goddess Bagalamukhi and Lord Narayan, noting that her divine appearance was the result of his devotion. Hence, worshipping both deities on this day is believed to bring immense spiritual and worldly benefits.

When accompanied by the Sudarshan Kavacham Yagya, the effects are said to be even more powerful.
