According to a legend, once, when Goddess Parvati took on the destructive form of Maa Kali to slay the demon Daruk, she became uncontrollable. To bring her back to her original state, Lord Shiva assumed the form of a five-year-old child and called out to her as "Maa." Hearing this affectionate call, the Goddess's heart melted, and she returned to her form as Maa Parvati.
The child form that Lord Shiva assumed to calm the Goddess came to be known as 'Batuk Bhairav.' Lord Bhairav’s child form, Shri Batuk Bhairav, is considered the giver of wealth and prosperity. On the other hand, the Swarnakarshan Bhairav Puja is performed to attract wealth and prosperity, granting the eight great siddhis. Worshipping this form of Lord Bhairav is believed to bring relief from debt, financial abundance, stability in life, and protection from adversities. It is believed that performing this special puja in Kashi, the abode of Lord Shiva, yields double the benefits, as Lord Bhairav is considered one of the manifestations of Lord Shiva.
