🔮 Why Ketu is called the directionless planet?
Ketu is called the directionless planet due to a story associated with the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). It is believed that when the gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) churned the ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality (Amrit), Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini to distribute the nectar among the gods. At that moment, the demon Swarbhanu secretly sat among the gods and tried to drink the nectar. When the Sun (Surya) and Moon (Chandra) noticed this, they informed Lord Vishnu. In response, Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to behead Swarbhanu. As a result, his head became Rahu, and his headless body became Ketu. This is why Ketu is traditionally symbolized by a serpent-headed figure, representing its headless nature. Since Ketu has no head, it is considered directionless. For this reason, in Vedic astrology, Ketu is regarded as a planet that detaches one from the material world and leads toward spirituality and liberation (Moksha).
