In particular, lighting a Ghee Deepam during the worship of Bhagwati (Maa Durga) is considered highly impactful. It is said that lighting Ghee Deepam in the worship of Maa Durga dispels negativity from life and grants the fulfilment of all desires. It is believed that by offering Ghee Deepam, the negative effects of the Navagrahas (nine planets) are removed, negative energy is dispelled, and positive energy is attracted. Therefore, performing the Nav Durga Maha Yagya along with the lighting of 1,000 Ghee Deepam, known as Sahasra Ghee Deepam Alankara, on the auspicious days of Navratri can be extremely powerful.
