According to the scriptures, just as the nine forms of the Devi are worshipped during Navratri, the 10 Mahavidyas are worshipped during Gupt Navratri. During these days, Tantra Sadhanas have great importance and they are done very secretly, hence it is called Gupt Navratri. In the tantric tradition, Devi Kali is considered a very important deity. It is said that by performing special worship for Devi Kali during Gupt Navratri, one can receive her blessings to be freed from negativities like anxiety and depression. Although there are many important places for the worship of Maa Kali, the Gadkalika temple of Ujjain is the most famous. It is said that Kalidas had gained a lot of fame by pleasing Devi Kali by offering prayers in this temple.

In the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Lord Sadashiva has revealed the 'Kalika Sahasranama' to Parashurama, which is considered highly efficacious for pleasing Devi Kali. Lord Sadashiva further tells Parashurama that reciting it can generate positive energy within a person, helping them to accomplish all their tasks easily and also bringing forth their good fortune. The Kali Karpoor Stotram is also highly significant for receiving the blessings of Devi Kali. This stotra, composed by Mahakal, bestows fearlessness, courage, and valor upon the devotee. Shri Gadkalika Temple, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
