Shradh Dwitiya Gangotri Dham Special Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek for Mental and Physical Well-Being of the Family

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. This period is considered the most auspicious time for the peace of ancestors' souls. According to scriptures, during Pitru Paksha, our ancestors descend from the Pitru Lok to Earth and are pleased with the Shradh, Tarpan, and Pinddaan performed by their descendants, bestowing their blessings. Every tithi of Pitru Paksha has its own special significance, among which Dwitiya Tithi is one. It is also known as Dooj Shradh and this day refers to the observance of ancestral rituals and offerings performed on the second day (Dwitiya) of the Pitru Paksha period. The period of Pitru Paksha is also considered auspicious for the removal of Pitru Dosh. According to Hindu scriptures, 'Pitru Dosh' arises due to the unfulfilled desires and negative actions of ancestors. This Dosh is believed to cause financial troubles, mental stress, and physical issues. It is believed that performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja on Shradh Dwitiya is beneficial for overcoming Pitru Dosh in the horoscope. Performing this puja along with Ganga Dudh Abhishek is said to be even more effective, bringing blessings of mental and physical well-being to the family.

This puja will be organised at Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand. It is located on the banks of Gnga river and is dedicated to Maa Ganga. According to religious beliefs, performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek in the sacred Gangotri Dham holds special importance. It is believed that worshipping Maa Ganga at the holy origin of the Ganges fulfils the devotees' desires According to legend, Gangotri Dham is where Maa Ganga descended to Earth after King Bhagirath's penance, and Lord Shiva calmed her flow by holding her in his locks. Therefore, on the auspicious day of Shradh Dwitiya during Pitru Paksha, a Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek will be organised at Gangotri Dham. It is believed that performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek at Gangotri Dham helps one find relief from Pitru Dosha. Therefore, on the auspicious occasion of Shradh Dwitiya during the Pitru Paksha performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek at Gangotri Dham may bring blessings for mental and physical well-being. Additionally, during Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits. Participate in this special puja through Sri Mandir on this auspicious tithi and receive the blessings of your ancestors.

Ganga Ghat, Gangotri Dham, Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand is known as the land of gods. The sacred Char Dham Yatra is undertaken in this divine land. One of the holy places on this sacred land is Gangotri. In the second leg of the Char Dham Yatra, the journey to Gangotri is undertaken. Gangotri is the source of the Ganga River. It is believed that worshipping Maa Ganga at this place fulfils all the wishes of the devotees. According to the Hindu mythology, Bhagiratha had performed penance for his ancestors to attain Moksha and after his tireless efforts, Maa Ganga arrived on earth, but the speed of Maa Ganga was so fast that if she would have fallen directly on earth, the earth would have destroyed. A situation of disaster would have been created and she would have gone to the netherworld.

On the tireless prayers of the devotees, Lord Shiva gathered Ganga in his Jata (locks) and after that Maa Ganga reached the earth via Kailash and saved the ancestors of Bhagiratha. Due to Bhagirath's efforts, the Ganga flowing from Gomukh is also known as Bhagirathi. After flowing some distance, when it merges with the Alaknanda River at Devprayag, it is known as Ganga. It is believed that the stone on which King Bhagirath meditated is still present here and is known as Bhagirath Shila. It is believed that whoever worships at Ganga Ghat in Gangotri Dham on the auspicious day of Ganga Dussehra receives the blessings of Maa Ganga. She grants them purity, prosperity, liberation from sins, and divine grace for their spiritual journey.
