It is believed that whoever performs this mantra jaap on Monday, Lord Shiva blesses them with Long life. On the other hand, The Shiv Sahasranama Rudrabhishek is a ritual in which the Shivling is bathed with various substances while reciting the Sahasranam (thousand names of Shiva). Each substance is offered while chanting specific verses that invoke different aspects of Lord Shiva's energy. It is said that any devotee who performs Rudrabhishek on Monday has all their wishes fulfilled by Lord Shiva and he blesses his devotees with Good Health. Moreover, if this Shiva Puja is performed at a Jyotirlinga, it becomes many times more fruitful. Therefore, on Monday, the 51,000 Mahamrityunjay Mantra Jaap and Shiv Sahasranama Rudrabhishek Pujan will be organised at the Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. This Jyotirlinga is the fourth Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is considered a Swayambhu Linga (self-manifested). According to a mythological story, Lord Shiva comes here to rest at night after wandering through all the three worlds.
