In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Amavasya holds special spiritual importance. According to the scriptures, during Pitru Paksha, it is believed that our ancestors descend from Pitru Lok to Earth to receive offerings, prayers, and respect from their descendants.

The Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas explain in detail the importance of performing Tarpan on Shraddha Amavasya. As per the Garuda Purana, if these rituals are not performed, ancestral debts may remain unsettled, which can lead to challenges like job delays, career obstacles, financial struggles, health problems, and hurdles in children’s education.
