The Shahi Snan is the most important ritual of the Kumbh Mela, drawing millions of devotees. Saints and sadhus from various akhadas participate in grand processions leading to the Sangam ghats for this sacred dip. The first Shahi Snan, which marks the official commencement of the Kumbh Mela, is always a major highlight. The first Shahi Snan of the 2025 Kumbh Mela will take place on January 13.
This day is considered highly auspicious in Hinduism. It is believed that performing the Pitru Shanti Mahapuja on this sacred day brings peace to the departed souls. According to Hindu scriptures, Pitru Dosha occurs due to the unfulfilled desires and negative karmas of one's ancestors. Individuals afflicted by this dosh often face financial difficulties, strained relationships, and health issues. Performing this puja at a pilgrimage site further enhances its significance. Among such places, the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, known as the King of Pilgrimage Sites, holds exceptional importance.
