According to the legend, Ahiravan and Mahiravan were sorcerers from Patal Lok and devotees of Maa Kali. They put the entire Vanara army into a deep sleep and abducted Lord Ram and Lakshman, imprisoning them in Patal Lok. To rescue them from this crisis, Hanuman Ji invoked Maa Kali. With Maa Kali's blessings, Hanuman Ji killed the two sorcerers and freed Lord Ram and Lakshman. In Patal Lok, when Hanuman Ji faced challenges from Makardhwaj and the task of extinguishing five magical lamps simultaneously, he assumed his Panchmukhi form to extinguish the lamps and defeat the sorcerers. Some stories also suggest that it was Maa Kali who bestowed special powers upon Hanuman Ji, enabling him to fulfill his mission successfully. This story symbolizes Maa Kali's power, cosmic balance, service to righteousness, and the destruction of arrogance and ignorance. It also reflects Lord Hanuman's devotion and triumph over dark forces.
