Shaktipeeth Dus Mahavidya Combo Special Maa Tara-Kali Bhaya Nivarak Maha Shakti Puja and Yagya Powerful Puja for Safety, Strength and Overcoming Adversities

According to our ancient scriptures, there is mention of the ten Mahavidyas, worshipped for attaining all kinds of powers. These ten Mahavidyas are regarded in the scriptures as bestowers of all siddhis. It is believed that by worshipping these Mahavidyas, one receives the blessings of protection, strength, and victory over obstacles from the goddess. According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, the origin of the ten Mahavidyas occurred due to a disagreement between Lord Shiva and his consort, Sati. When Maa Sati insisted on attending a yagya (sacrificial ritual) organised by her father, Lord Shiva ignored her request. In response, Maa Sati assumed a fierce form (the Kali avatar), which astonished Lord Shiva, causing him to flee in all directions. To stop him, Maa Sati manifested herself in all ten directions. These ten forms of the goddess are known as the ten Mahavidyas. These Mahavidyas are Goddess Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Baglamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala. The scriptures advise that in the Kaliyuga, worship of the ten Mahavidyas should be performed through the Dakshinachara (right-hand path) as it is believed to be more fruitful.

Maa Kali is the first, and Maa Tara the second Mahavidya. According to the Puranas, Goddess Mahakali removes darkness and negativity from her devotees' lives, bringing light and hope. The fierce form of Maa Kali emerged to destroy demons, and she is the only power that even death itself fears. For this reason, devotees worship Maa Kali to free themselves from fear. Maa Tara, considered another form of Maa Kali, is the goddess who vanquishes enemies. According to a story mentioned in the scriptures, Maa Tara reduced the effect of Lord Shiva's poison after he drank it. Thus, it is believed that worshipping Maa Tara removes all obstacles, granting protection through the goddess’s grace. To honour this, a grand ritual of Maa Tara-Kali Bhaya Nivarak Maha Shakti Puja and Yagya will be organised at Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple and Shaktipeeth Maa Tarapith Temple, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths located in Kolkata. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings of protection, strength, and victory over obstacles from Maa Kali and Maa Tara.

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Shaktipeeth Maa Tarapith Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal
The Kalighat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

It is located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, is the revered Tarapith Temple dedicated to Maa Tara, the second of the 10 Mahavidyas. It is one of the 51 Shaktipeethas, described as being seats of divine feminine power or Shakti. Some stories purport that the divine eyeball of Sati had fallen here. Various parts of Sati's body are said to have fallen across the Indian subcontinent during Lord Shiva's Rudra Tandav (devastating dance) following Sati’s self-immolation at Daksha’s yajna where she and her husband were disrespected. The temple is a significant site for the practice of tantric rites too and Sadhak Bamakhyapa is said to have performed his sadhana here. Maa Tara is regarded as one of the principal deities in Bengal, who symbolises great power. Her devotees offer their prayers to her for prevention of disasters and protection from negative energies, hazards and accidents.
