Pleased with his devotion, Shri Krishna appeared before Shani Dev in the form of a cuckoo (Kokila), therefore this forest is known as Kokilavan. Lord Krishna also said that anyone who worships Lord Shani at this place will receive the combined blessings of both Shani Dev and Lord Krishna.
