Dhanteras means “Thirteenth of Wealth”. It falls on the Dwadashi Tithi of the Kartik month. It is said in the Puranas that on this day, Lord Dhanvantari appeared with the pot of Amrit (nectar) during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). Therefore, this day is considered auspicious for both health and wealth. People buy gold, silver, new utensils, or clothes on this day so that the new beginning is auspicious and Lakshmi resides in the house. For this purpose, the 3-day Dhanteras Lakshmi Mahapuja will be organized at Gajlakshami temple. A total of 11 lakh Lakshmi Beej Mantras will be chanted in this puja. On the first day, the installation of Shri Yantra and chanting of mantras will take place, on the second day Dhan Prakash yagya will be completed, and on the third day Shri Lakshmi Puja will be held with the concluding puja and Panchamrit Abhishek.
