Kartik Purnima Bharani Nakshatra Special Yam Dand Mukti Puja and 11,000 Yamuna Mantra Jaap and Havan for Protection From Unforeseen Dangers And Negative Energies

In Vedic Astrology, Bharani Nakshatra holds immense significance. This Nakshatra symbolises the dual forces of life and death, representing transformation, resilience, and the continuous cycle of creation and destruction. In Sanatan Dharma, the month of Kartik holds special significance and is considered the last month of Chaturmas. The Purnima that falls in this month is known as Kartik Purnima. This day is considered auspicious for performing religious rituals, especially when aligned with the Bharani Nakshatra. This nakshatra is ruled by Yama, the god of death and dharma. Bharani nakshatra’s energy is believed to support spiritual protection and cleansing, making it an ideal time to perform the Yam Dand Mukti Puja. This puja holds the power to dispel negative energies and protect against unexpected misfortunes. According to ancient legend, Yamuna, the daughter of Surya Dev, is the sister of Yama. When Maa Yamuna began to flow on Earth as a river, Lord Yama was appointed as the ruler of the realm of death, overseeing life’s transition. Moved by her devotion, Lord Yama granted a boon: anyone who takes a holy dip in the sacred waters of Yamuna or worships on its banks with devotion will remove the fear of death and bestows the blessing of salvation. Hence, worshipping Maa Yamuna along with Lord Yama on this day is considered highly auspicious.

Therefore, along with Yam Dand Mukti Puja performing Yamuna Mantra Jaap and Havan brings devotees release mental and emotional burdens, alleviating stress, and cultivating a calm, peaceful state of mind. Therefore on the auspicious conjunction of Kartik Purnima and Bharani Nakshatra, Yam Dand Mukti Puja and 11,000 Yamuna Mantra Jaap and Havan will be organised at the Shri Yamunotri Dham. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of Lord Yama and Maa Yamuna for protection from unforeseen dangers and negative energies.

Shri Yamunotri Dham, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand
Yamunotri Dham, the ideal starting point for the sacred Chota Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, is a place where pilgrims receive blessings for a safe and spiritually enriching journey. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the temple stands in the Uttarkashi district, alongside the beautiful River Yamuna. A unique ritual at Yamunotri involves cooking potatoes and rice in the hot spring of Surya Kund, near the temple. Devotees offer these cooked items at the temple, and the rice is taken home as Prasad.

The original temple is believed to have been constructed by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur in the 19th century, although some sources suggest it was built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Over time, the temple has undergone several renovations due to damage from natural elements. According to legend, the Sage Asit Muni, who lived in the area and bathed daily in both the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers. In his old age, when he could no longer travel to Gangotri, a stream of the Ganges miraculously appeared near Yamunotri for him. Additionally, Goddess Yamuna is considered the daughter of Surya Dev (the Sun God) and the sister of Yama (the God of Death). Worshipping Yamuna is believed to please both the Sun God and Yama, offering devotees protection and blessings.
