Bhai Dooj Special Vishnu Sahasranamam with Parvati Ashtottara Shatanamavali for Blessings of Family Unity and Love in Siblings

In Hinduism, Bhai Dooj holds special significance as a festival that celebrates the eternal bond between siblings. The name is derived from two words, ‘Bhai,’ meaning brother, and ‘Dooj,’ referring to the second day after the new moon. It is celebrated two days after Diwali. This festival is marked by sisters praying for their brothers' well-being and prosperity, while brothers vow to protect and care for their sisters. According to scriptures, Maa Parvati did severe penance to marry Lord Shiva. As part of her penance, she needed to create a Shivling and worship Mahadev. However, despite repeated attempts, she struggled to form the Shivling from the dry soil. Seeing her dedication, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of a Brahmin to help her. He approached Maa Parvati and offered his assistance in shaping the Shivling. Grateful for his support, Maa Parvati affectionately addressed Lord Vishnu as 'brother.' With his help, she was finally able to complete the Shivling and continue her penance. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, in his role as her spiritual brother, even convinced Mahadev to agree to their divine marriage. This story symbolises the strong bond between them. According to another ancient tale, Maa Parvati tied a sacred rakhi on Lord Vishnu’s wrist, signifying their spiritual sibling relationship. In return, Lord Vishnu promised to protect her from all challenges. Hence, it is believed that performing any rituals for Maa Parvati and Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day is considered highly auspicious.

Therefore, performing the Vishnu Sahasranamam with Parvati Ashtottara Shatanamavali on this day brings auspicious results. Vishnu Sahasranama is a sacred hymn consisting of the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu. It is a part of the Mahabharata and is recited for peace, prosperity, and divine blessings. Whereas Parvati Ashtottara Shatanamavali includes the chanting of 108 names of Maa Parvati. Chanting these names is a devotional practice that devotees believe helps invoke her blessings for prosperity, harmony, marital bliss, and spiritual protection. Together these pujas are believed to invoke the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Maa Parvati and bring blessings of family unity and love in siblings. Therefore on Bhai Dooj, Vishnu Sahasranamam with Parvati Ashtottara Shatanamavali will be organised at the Prachin Panch Ratna Temple. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive blessings of family unity and love in siblings.
