Shardiya Navratri - Day 4 Special Putra Kameshti Havan and Kushmanda Kavach Path for Blessing of Prosperity and Well-Being of your Children

In Sanatan Dharma, Navratri is considered a very auspicious festival. There are four Navratris throughout the year, with Shardiya Navratri being regarded as the most significant. It is said that Navratri is the most auspicious time for worshipping Maa Bhagwati Durga, and during these nine days, the nine different forms of Maa Durga are worshipped. On the fourth day of Navratri, which falls on Shukla Chaturthi, people also worship Lord Vishnu, as he is the presiding deity of Shukla Chaturthi tithi. In Hinduism, the Putra Kameshti Havan, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is considered a significant and holy ritual. It is believed that performing the Putra Kameshti Havan on Shukla Chaturthi yields extremely favourable results. As described in the Valmiki Ramayana, during the Treta Yuga, Guru Vashishta advised King Dasharatha to perform the Putra Kameshti Havan. Following his guidance, King Dasharatha performed the Havan, which blessed his queens with sons. This Havan granted King Dasharatha the divine fortune of becoming the father of a son like Lord Ram. It is believed that by performing the Putra Kameshti Havan in the Kali Yuga, on the auspicious day of Shukla Chaturthi, parents can receive blessings for their children’s well-being and prosperity.

On the other hand, Maa Kushmanda is also worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. In Hinduism, Maa Bhagwati Durga's fourth form is known as Kushmanda. It is said that when the universe did not exist and there was nothing but darkness all around, Maa Kushmanda created the universe with a mere smile. For this reason, she is also regarded as the primordial source of creation, the Adi Shakti. Reciting the Kushmanda Devi Kavach on the fourth day of Navratri is said to yield special blessings. The word "Kavach" means a shield or protection. By reciting the Kushmanda Devi Kavach, a protective shield is believed to form around us. It is said that this collection of powerful mantras, in the form of the Devi Kavach, helps eliminate negativity surrounding us. It acts as a shield in times of adversity, offering protection. Parents perform this Kavach Path during Navratri for their children's prosperity and well-being. Therefore, on the fourth day of Navratri, which is Shukla Chaturthi, a Putra Kameshti Havan and Kushmanda Kavach Path will be organised at the Etteluthuperumal Temple. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive special blessings from Lord Vishnu and Maa Kushmanda for your children's well-being.
