What is the Special Significance of This Puja at the Shaktipeeth 🛕 in Kolkata?
The nine days of Navratri are considered highly sacred. During this period, devotees observe strict rules and perform puja in honor of Goddess Durga and her various forms. According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, the Mahavidyas originated from a dispute between Lord Shiva and his consort Devi Sati. When Lord Shiva forbade Devi Sati from attending her father’s yagya, she manifested in ten different forms to stop him from leaving, surrounding him from all directions. These ten divine forms came to be known as the Dash Mahavidyas. Among them, five are considered the most revered: Maa Kali, Maa Tara, Maa Shodashi, Maa Bhuvaneshwari and Maa Bagalamukhi
