Bhadrapada Monday Special 11,000 Shiv Rudra jaap and Mahamrityunjay Havan to Get Blessing for a Disease-Free and Healthy Life

In Hinduism, the month of Bhadrapada holds significant importance and is the second sacred month of Chaturmas. According to scriptures, worshipping Lord Shiva during this month is considered highly significant. It is believed that worshipping Lord Bholenath in this month removes negativity within devotees and instils positive energy. This is why worship on Mondays during this month is considered highly fruitful. In Hinduism, Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, it is on this day that Chandra Dev worshipped Mahadev, and Mahadev, pleased by the devotion, relieved Chandra Dev of his ailments. Therefore, devotees chant various mantras to please Mahadev on this day, including the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. "Maha" means great, "Mrityu" means death, and "Jaya" means victory. Thus, the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is known as the "Great Mantra for Victory Over Death."

According to legend, Maharishi Markandeya composed the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. Maharishi Mriga Shringa and Suvrata had no children, so they performed severe penance to please Lord Shiva, who blessed them with a son but also warned that the son would live only for 16 years. Markandeya was born as their son. When he turned 15, his parents informed him about his short lifespan. Markandeya composed the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and engaged in intense devotion to Lord Shiva. When Markandeya turned 16, Yamaraj came to take him, but Markandeya clung to the Shiva Lingam. Pleased with Markandeya's devotion, Lord Shiva appeared and granted him immortality, stating that anyone who recites the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra will have their troubles removed and be freed from the fear of untimely death. It is believed that performing Shiva Rudra Jaap and Mahamrityunjaya Havan bestows good health and divine blessings for an active mind. Therefore, on Monday, 11,000 Shiva Rudra Jaap and Mahamrityunjaya Havan will be conducted at the Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli, South India. This temple houses a large Spatika Lingam, considered the second highest in India after Rishikesh. Devotees from across the country come here to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. Participate in this special Puja through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of a healthy body and an active mind.

Established 120 years ago by the esteemed sage Mayandi Siddhar, the temple is a testament to enduring tradition and devotion. Sage Mayandi Siddhar constructed the temple following a profound meditation and vision of Lord Ram.
