🚩 Why is Hanuman Ji called Sankat Mochan? And why is he worshipped on Tuesdays? 💪🙏✨
In Sanatan Dharma, Lord Hanuman is worshipped as Sankat Mochan (the remover of obstacles), and Tuesday is considered highly auspicious for his worship. It is believed that performing Hanuman Ji's puja on Tuesdays brings his divine blessings. Therefore, on Tuesday, Sri Mandir is organizing a special ritual performed by 21 Brahmins at the Mayapati Hanuman Temple in Ujjain. The reason Hanuman Ji is referred to as Mayapati and Sankat Mochan is that whenever his beloved Lord Shri Ram faced any challenge, Hanuman Ji resolved it with his wisdom, strength, and devotion. According to Valmiki Ramayana, when Lord Ram's brother, Lakshman, fell unconscious, it was Hanuman Ji who decided to bring the Sanjeevani Booti. To obstruct Hanuman Ji, Ravana sent a demon named Kalanemi, who disguised himself as a Brahmin and tried to mislead Hanuman Ji. However, Hanuman Ji used his intelligence to see through the deception, killed the demon Kalanemi, and successfully brought the Sanjeevani Booti in time to save Lakshman’s life. This is why Hanuman Ji is called Sankat Mochan—the one who delivers from all troubles and hardships.
In Kaliyuga, Hanuman Ji, the immortal deity, is believed to be most pleased by the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, composed by Goswami Tulsidas Ji. The Hanuman Chalisa consists of 40 verses written in praise of Hanuman Ji, the devotee of Lord Ram, and it is considered a powerful means of protection against all troubles and negative forces. The scriptures also emphasize the importance of reciting the Hanuman Ashtak along with the Hanuman Chalisa as it is a potent method to seek Lord Hanuman's blessings. It is believed that reciting both the Hanuman Chalisa and Hanuman Ashtak brings double the benefits. Through these recitations, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ji removes all difficulties from his devotees’ lives and blesses them with strength and courage akin to his own. To honor this, a grand ritual of 1008 Hanuman Chalisa Path and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak Path will be organized at the Mayapati Hanuman Temple in Ujjain. The path will be performed by 21 Brahmins.
