In the scriptures, the mantra “Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundaye Vichche” is referred to as the Navarna Mantra. Each letter of this mantra is directly related to the powers of Maa Durga’s nine forms. The first letter "Aim" is associated with Maa Shailputri. The second letter "Hrim" is governed by Maa Brahmacharini. The third letter "Klim" is linked to Maa Chandraghanta. The fourth letter "Cha" relates to Maa Kushmanda. The fifth letter "Mum" impacts Maa Skandamata. The sixth letter "Da" is connected with Maa Katyayani. The seventh letter "Yai" pertains to Maa Kalratri, and the eighth letter "Vi" represents Maa Mahagauri. The ninth letter "Chai" is associated with Maa Siddhidatri. For this reason, the chanting of the Navarna Mantra is considered one of the most powerful practices during the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami, as it is dedicated to Maa Durga's nine forms.
