Vaikunth Chaturdashi Jyotirlinga Special Harihar Milan Puja and 1100 Bilva-Tulsi Archana for Blessing Of Peace, Prosperity, And Well-Being of The Family

Vaikunth Chaturdashi is a sacred occasion when Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshipped together, a rare event as both deities are seldom worshipped simultaneously. According to the Hindu calendar, Vaikunth Chaturdashi is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, also known as the day of Hari-Hara Milan (union of Hari and Hara). It is observed a day before Kartik Purnima. There is a legend behind this day. It is said that when Lord Vishnu awakens from his Yog Nidra, he visits Kashi to worship Lord Shiva. There, he bathes at Manikarnika Ghat and vows to offer 1,000 golden lotus flowers to Lord Shiva. To test his devotion, Lord Shiva removes one lotus from the offering. At that moment, Lord Vishnu considers offering his own eye in place of the missing lotus. However, before he can proceed, Lord Shiva appears and stops him, moved by Vishnu's devotion.

Pleased with his love, Lord Shiva grants him the Sudarshan Chakra and blesses that any devotee worshipping Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day will attain Vaikunth (Lord Vishnu's abode). Since then, Vaikunth Chaturdashi has been celebrated with great devotion. On this day, Lord Shiva entrusts Lord Vishnu with the responsibilities of creation. On Vaikunth Chaturthi, Lord Shiva (Hara) is offered Tulsi leaves, which are dear to Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vishnu (Hari) is offered Bilva leaves, beloved of Lord Shiva, symbolising their divine union. Many rituals are performed to please both deities, including the Harihar Milan Puja, which symbolises the powers of preservation (Vishnu) and destruction (Shiva) in the cosmos. On this auspicious day, both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu bestow their blessings upon the devotees. To celebrate Vaikunth Chaturdashi, a special Harihar Milan Puja and 1100 Bilva-Tulsi Archana will be organised at the Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu for family peace, prosperity, and happiness.

Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh
The fourth Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva is Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, considered a Swayambhu lingam. It is located in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on the island of Mandhata or Shivpuri in the Narmada River. Here, the Jyotirlinga exists in two forms. One is known as Mamleshwar and the other as Omkareshwar. Mamleshwar is located a little distance away on the southern bank of the Narmada from Omkareshwar. Despite being separate, they are counted as one. The pronunciation of 'Omkar' first emerged from the mouth of the creator Brahma. The recitation of the Vedas also begins with 'Om'. It is believed that the Narmada river itself flows here in the shape of 'Om'. According to scriptures, merely visiting Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga can liberate one from all sins. The glory of the Omkareshwar Kshetra is mentioned in the Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana, and Vayu Purana.

According to a mythological story, Lord Shiva comes here to rest at night after wandering through all the three worlds. It is said that this is the only temple on earth where Shiva and Parvati play the game of dice every night. After the Shayan Aarti at night, a dice board is set up here, and the Garbhgriha is closed. Surprisingly, even though no one can enter the temple at night, the dice are found scattered every day. This fact further enhances the religious significance of this temple. This is why after visiting all other pilgrimages, a visit and worship at Omkareshwar holds special importance. Pilgrims bring water from all other holy places to offer at Omkareshwar, only then are all pilgrimages considered complete; otherwise, they are considered incomplete.
