It is believed that when devotees worship Lord Ganesh with true devotion, He is pleased in His Vighnaraja form and removes all obstacles from their lives. Worshipping Vighnaharta Ganesh on Wednesdays is considered especially auspicious, as this day is dedicated to Him in Sanatan Dharma and is believed to be very dear to Him.
According to legend, on the very day Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesh, Budh Dev (the deity of Mercury) was also present on Mount Kailash. Upon witnessing Lord Vinayak, Budh Dev was so pleased that he dedicated his day—Wednesday—to Lord Ganesh. This is why worshipping Lord Ganesh on Wednesdays is considered especially fruitful. The scriptures also mention that remembering Lord Ganesh on this day naturally begins to eliminate the obstacles in one’s life. This is the reason He is called Vighnaharta—the remover of obstacles—who clears the path of His devotees and blesses them with success. This huge idol in the temple is not made of cement but of bricks, lime, and sand, and what's even more intriguing is that the mixture used in the making also contained spices of jaggery and fenugreek seeds.
