Friday is considered highly auspicious for Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth. On this day, devotees worship her with deep devotion, as it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi is easily pleased on Fridays. To honor this auspicious day, a special ritual will be organized by 16 Brahmins, seeking blessings from both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayan. According to scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi is referred to as Shri in Sanskrit, which means the embodiment of all auspicious qualities. In the Rigveda, the 16-verse Shri Suktam is considered the most effective hymn to please Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, on this Friday, 16 Brahmin will chant the Shri Suktam 1,600 times, as per the belief that the number 6 is connected to Goddess Lakshmi. It is said that performing this puja on a Friday brings blessings of wealth, prosperity, and affluence from Goddess Lakshmi. Additionally, reciting the Shri Suktam is believed to ensure that devotees never face financial scarcity, and Goddess Lakshmi herself protects them from problems like debts and financial losses.
Furthermore, performing the Lakshmi Narayan Pujan is considered highly auspicious for receiving divine blessings from both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayan. It is said that those experiencing financial difficulties in their business or job should worship Lakshmi Narayan (Vishnu). Alongside this, the Sudarshan Havan invokes the power of the Sudarshan Chakra held by the supreme deity of wealth. This fire ritual is conducted to eliminate all kinds of suffering.
