Hence, on Monday, Sri Mandir will organise 11,000 Mahamrityunjay Mantra Jaap and Arogya Murti Dhanvantari Shakti Homa at the Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. According to a legend mentioned in religious scriptures, after emerging from the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), Lord Dhanvantari requested a position from Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu replied that Dhanvantari had arrived slightly late, but he would be born in the second Dwapar Yuga on Earth in a royal lineage. He further blessed him, saying that Dhanvantari would become renowned and worshipped across the three realms. As a result of this boon, in the second Dwapar Yuga, Lord Dhanvantari incarnated in Kashi, the city of Lord Shiva, as the son of King Kash of Kashi's royal family. Later, Lord Dhanvantari studied Ayurveda under Sage Bharadwaj and divided it into eight branches. Lord Dhanvantari was known to possess comprehensive knowledge of all medical treatments. Therefore, this special puja will be conducted for blessings of better health, protection, and safety from mishaps in the new year.
