😲 What is the secret behind their combined worship?
Among the twenty-four Ekadashis, Varuthini Ekadashi is considered the most powerful and spiritually rewarding. It falls on the Ekadashi of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) in the month of Vaishakha, and holds special significance in the Puranas. This day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also known as Narayan. However, worshipping Goddess Bagalamukhi on this day is also believed to be highly beneficial. The scriptures mention a deep connection between Goddess Bagalamukhi and Lord Narayan, stating that the manifestation of Goddess Bagalamukhi occurred due to Lord Narayan himself. According to the legend, during the Satya Yuga, a demon named Madan received a boon from Lord Brahma that made him invincible. Empowered by this boon, Madan unleashed terror across the three worlds. Frightened by his power, all the gods approached Lord Vishnu and pleaded for help. Lord Vishnu revealed that to defeat the demon Madan, it was essential to worship Goddess Bagalamukhi. He then began intense penance on the banks of the Haridra Sarovar (a lake filled with yellow water). Pleased by Vishnu's penance, Goddess Bagalamukhi appeared and destroyed the demon Madan. After his defeat, the gods, sages, and seers praised Goddess Bagalamukhi and she was blessed with the title of Vijayshri, the giver of victory.
This is why Goddess Bagalamukhi is regarded as the Goddess of justice, victory, and the destruction of enemies. She is one of the ten Mahavidyas (great wisdom goddesses) and is also known as Peetambara due to her origin from the Haridra Sarovar (turmeric-colored lake). Radiating a yellow aura, yellow holds special significance in her worship. She is considered the Goddess of Stambhana Shakti—the power to paralyze or immobilize negative forces. Through her worship, a devotee gains immense strength, courage, and self-confidence, which helps in resolving legal disputes, ensuring victory, and overcoming enemies. When performed alongside her worship, the Sudarshan Kavacham Yagya is believed to be extremely effective in achieving victory over adversaries. The Sudarshan Chakra, as described in the Rigveda, is a symbol of Lord Vishnu and represents the wheel of time. It is Lord Vishnu’s divine weapon that, once released, destroys the enemy and returns only after completing its task.
