Krishna Janmashtami Rohini Nakshatra Special Nishit Kaal Baal Krishna Abhishek and Dahi Handi Pujan For Blessings of Good Health and Well- being of your Children

Krishna Janmashtami is one of the most significant festivals in Hinduism, holding immense religious importance for devotees of Lord Krishna. This festival is celebrated every year on the Ashtami Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. According to the scriptures, Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Vishnu, was born to Devaki and Vasudeva on this day to defeat his Mama, Kansa. As described in the Srimad Bhagavata Purana, Lord Krishna was born under the Rohini Nakshatra at midnight during Nishit Kaal. This year, the Rohini Nakshatra also coincides with Ashtami, enhancing the significance of worshipping Lord Krishna on this Janmashtami. Therefore, performing a puja for Lord Krishna on this rare conjunction of Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami during Nishit Kaal holds immense importance. Nishit Kaal is commonly referred to as midnight or the early hours of the night. This year on Janmashtami Nishit Kaal starts at 12:01 AM and ends at 12:45 AM. On this auspicious day, devotees worship the child form of Krishna, Baal Krishna, which is said to bless them with good health and the well-being of their children. One of the most important rituals on Krishna Janmashtami is the abhishek of Baal Krishna during Nishit Kaal. This ceremony is believed to invoke divine blessings, bringing peace, prosperity, and spiritual well-being to the devotees. Along with Baal Krishna’s abhishek, performing Dahi Handi Pujan also holds great significance.

The tradition of celebrating the Dahi Handi Pujan dates back to the Dwapar Yuga. It is observed as a symbol of Lord Krishna's childhood pastimes. Krishna was extremely fond of curd, milk, and butter. He, along with his friends, would often steal butter (Makhan) from the neighbouring houses, which earned him the nickname "Makhan Chor". To prevent this, the Gopis started hanging the butter pots at higher places, but even this did not deter the mischievous Kanha. He and his friends would form human pyramids to reach the pots and enjoy the butter together. These childhood exploits of Lord Krishna are celebrated through the Dahi Handi Pujan. The significance of Baal Krishna Abhishek and Dahi Handi Pujan increases manifold when performed in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Therefore, on this Janmashtami, during the auspicious conjunction of Nishit Kaal and Rohini Nakshatra, a special Baal Krishna Abhishek and Dahi Handi Pujan will be organised at Shri Krishna’s birthplace in Mathura. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings of Baal Krishna for good health, well-being of your children, and happiness and prosperity in your household.

One of the oldest temples in Braj Dham, the Shri Gopinath Ji Temple, also known as the Shri Radha Gopinath Temple, is renowned for its historical significance. Located on the sacred land of Vrindavan, the construction of this temple and the story of the deity's idol are truly remarkable. This temple is unique in India for housing the deity of Lord Krishna in three forms. The idol of Gopinath in this temple is said to have been crafted by Lord Krishna’s great-grandson, Bajranabh, with the help of the divine architect Vishwakarma. The idol is considered a perfect replica of Lord Krishna's actual form.

In the Gopinath Temple, Lord Krishna is depicted playing the flute as Murali Dhar, standing with Anang-Manjari to His left and Radha Ji to His right. It is believed that the deity enshrined in the temple is highly miraculous and fulfils the wishes of all devotees. Among all the Krishna temples in Vrindavan, the Shri Radha Gopinath Temple holds special importance and is recognized as one of the Sapta Devalayas (seven principal temples) of Vrindavan. Like every temple in Braj Dham, this temple bears witness to its unique past. It is believed that worshipping Lord Krishna on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami at this temple brings his blessings and fulfils all devotees’ wishes.
