According to the scriptures, Shukracharya, the Guru of the demons, performed penance to please Lord Shiva and learned the Mrit Sanjivani Vidya from him. It is said that the place where Shukracharya did this penance was ruled by Rahu. Rahu respected Guru Shukracharya very much. For this reason, Rahu represented all the demons and made Shukracharya his Guru.
