The Story of Lord Brahma

Hindu mythology states that Brahma created the universe, including all living beings, plants, and humans. He is believed to have four heads, representing the four Vedas. However, according to the Puranas, Brahma originally had five heads.

The Story Behind Brahma’s Fifth Head

Once Brahma created the universe, he also created a beautiful woman named Satarupa to help in human evolution. However, Brahma became enchanted by her beauty and wished to marry her.

  1. Whenever Satarupa moved, Brahma would create a new head to watch her.
  2. Eventually, she tried to escape but failed to avoid his gaze.
  3. Distressed, Satarupa prayed to Lord Shiva for help.
  4. Shiva created Bhairava, a fierce deity, and ordered him to cut off Brahma’s fifth head.
  5. As soon as Bhairava severed the fifth head, Brahma realized his mistake and repented.
  6. This story highlights the importance of self-control and righteousness in Hindu teachings.
