According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon of the Phalguna month is known as Vasant Purnima. This year, Vasant Purnima coincides with the year’s first total lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan), also known as the ‘Blood Moon.’ This rare celestial alignment makes it an exceptionally powerful time for spiritual practices, particularly for those seeking relief from Rahu-Chandra Grahan Dosha. There is a legend associated with Rahu and the Moon. According to Vedic mythology, during the Samudra Manthan, the Devas and Asuras churned the ocean for Amrit (nectar of immortality). The demon Swarbhanu disguised himself as a god to drink the nectar, but Surya and Chandra exposed him. Enraged, Lord Vishnu beheaded him with his Sudarshan Chakra, turning his head into Rahu and his body into Ketu. Seeking vengeance, Rahu periodically swallows the Sun and Moon, causing eclipses and Rahu-Chandra Grahan Dosha, which can disrupt mental peace, relationships, and fortunes. This is why Chandra Grahan (Lunar Eclipse) is feared, as it brings Rahu’s manipulative, shadowy influence over the Moon, affecting emotions, intuition, and karmic balance.
