The chronicled gate of Lord Ram’s palace It is believed that the temple is located at the spot which served as the main gate to Lord Ram’s royal palace, thus giving it its name. As per the popular myth, Lord Ram visited this temple when he was leaving for exile with Lord Lakshman and Goddess Sita. Priests say that the present temple was restored and renovated around 900 years ago by the then-king of Ayodhya, Raja Maan Singh. The temple has evolved through the reigns of Raja Dadu Sahab and Raja Jagdambika Pratak and the present generation of the same family looks after its upkeep today.

Surrounded by many historic temples Raj Dwar Temple is located at a distance of 100 metres from Hanumangarhi Temple, around 400 metres from the Kanak Bhawan Temple and in the vicinity of the magnificent Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. After taking a bath in the Saryu River, the devotees first visit Hanumangarhi and then pay obeisance at various other temples of Lord Rama. Despite its historical relevance, the Raj Dwar Temple does not find a place in most itineraries. If you are looking for less toured spots, you will definitely love your time at this place.
