Shardiya Navratri Shashti Shaktipeeth Special Maa Katyayani Mahishasur Mardini Stotra Path and Nav Chandi Havan for Destruction of Evil and Negativity in Life

In Hinduism, Navratri holds special significance. The word 'Nav' means 'nine' and 'Ratri' means 'night,' indicating that this festival, which lasts for nine nights, is dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to the Katyayani form of Maa Durga. Maa Katyayani is also known as Amogh Faldayini, the goddess who grants unfailing blessings. According to legend, pleased with the severe penance of Sage Katya, Goddess Durga took birth in his home. Because of her birth in Sage Katya's house, she was named Katyayani. Later, she became known as Mahishasura Mardini. Mahishasura Mardini is the form of Goddess Adishakti that emerged to slay the demon Mahishasura. It is said that this form of the Goddess came into existence after the gods invoked her through prayers to defeat Mahishasura, a powerful demon who had received many boons. Once, Mahishasura attacked the gods in an attempt to conquer them, and when they were unable to defeat him, they sought refuge in Goddess Adishakti and began praying to her. In response, the Goddess manifested in a divine form and vanquished the demon Mahishasura, freeing the gods from fear. Afterward, the gods chanted the Mahishasura Mardini Stotra to praise and please her. Since then, it is believed that by worshipping the Goddess, even the greatest difficulties are quickly resolved.

On the other hand, the Nav Chandi Havan honours the nine forms of Maa Durga and is considered most auspicious when performed during Navratri. According to ancient texts, through the grace of Maa Durga's nine forms, this Havan bestows good health, wealth, prosperity, longevity, abundance, fame, success, and strength. It also helps remove fear of illness, danger, and defeat by adversaries while also pacifying the malefic effects of the nine planets. It is believed that if these rituals are performed at one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, specifically at the Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth, it can yield greater results. This temple, located in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is one of the ancient Siddhpeeths. As per legends, this place became highly significant because Maa Sati's hair is said to have fallen here, making it one of the most important and ancient Siddhpeeths. Therefore, on the sixth day of Navratri, Maa Katyayani Mahishasur Mardini Stotra Path and Nav Chandi Havan will be organised at the Shaktipeeth Maa Katyayani temple. Participate in this special puja through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings for the destruction of evil and negativity in life.

Puja Benefits

puja benefits
For the Destruction of Evil in Life
Katyayani Devi, also known as Mahishasura Mardini, is recognized as the Mahadevi or Adishakti Yoddha (Warrior). It is believed that worshipping Goddess Katyayani, who vanquished the demon, leads to the eradication of all evils from the devotees' lives. When combined with the power of Nav Chandi Havan, which invokes the collective strength of the nine forms of Durga, this ritual amplifies protection and destroys negativity. Therefore, worshipping Maa Katyayani on the sixth day of Navratri, along with Nav Chandi Havan, brings an end to all forms of evil and negativity in life.
puja benefits
For the Destruction of Negativity
Maa Katyayani is regarded as the destroyer of negativity. She is worshipped to achieve victory over enemies, as the Goddess herself eliminates negative forces. Performing Maa Katyayani Mahishasur Mardini Stotra Path along with the Nav Chandi Havan, makes this worship even more potent, as it invokes the combined strength of all nine forms of Durga to remove obstacles. Therefore, worshipping Maa Katyayani on the sixth day of Navratri, along with the Nav Chandi Havan, leads to the eradication of negativity from the devotee's life, enabling the successful completion of all their endeavours.
puja benefits
For the Fulfilment of All Wishes
According to the scriptures, Maa Katyayani resides on the Agya Chakra. According to Indian philosophy, Agya Chakra is the sixth power centre of the body, which is located on the forehead between the two eyes. This chakra is the controlling centre of the human body. It is believed that on the sixth day of Navratri, performing Maa Katyayani Mahishasur Mardini Stotra Path along with Nav Chandi Havan awakens this chakra, due to which all the wishes of the devotee are fulfilled.

Shaktipeeth Maa Katyayani Temple, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
The Katyayani Shakti Peeth Temple is among the 51 revered Shakti Peethas in Hinduism. It is dedicated to Maa Parvati in her Katyayani form. Every year, the temple is flooded with pilgrims who come to pray to Goddess Katyayani and seek her blessings. The temple was built by a saint named Kesavanand Maharaj, an ardent devotee of Maa Katyayani, who had a dream in which Katyayani Devi asked him to come to Vrindavan and build a temple.

The Shakti Peethas are sacred spots where parts of the body of Goddess Sati fell during the mythological episode of Lord Shiva's Tandava following her self-immolation. It is believed that Mata Sati’s hair fell in this temple. Some people worship her as Goddess Uma here. Therefore, the temple is also known as Uma Shakti Peeth or Uma Devi Mandir. Another legend associated with Uma Shakti Peeth in Vrindavan is that worshipping Katyayani Devi grants girls their desired groom. It is said that the gopis of Braj Wanted Lord Krishna as their husband, and Vrinda Devi suggested they worship Goddess Katyayani. This tradition continues to this day.
